Congratulations!

And remember, when the day comes...you are there in a support role. If your wife needs you to talk to her, talk to her. If she needs you to shut up, shut up. Be attentive to exactly what she asks for, and if it's not what she normally wants, that's fine. Don't try and talk her out of it. Just support her.

A few other things:
- The day you bring the baby home will be the single longest day of your life.
- At some point, you will be overwhelmed and question why God ever saw fit to make a couple of knuckleheads like you parents. Remember that everybody feels this way at times. You are probably better equipped to be parents than 95 percent of the couples in the world. You will do a fine job, really.
- Things your baby needs: Food, a dry diaper, sleep and cuddles. Attend to those needs and the child will be fine.
- Six weeks, six months. Those are the two main points early on when your life will start to get easier.

And be mindful of everything when you first hold the baby. You will always have the love you feel then, but that split-second feeling the first time you hold your child is like nothing you will ever experience again. Your life will forever be divided into "before that moment" and "after that moment."
