Your life doesn't change, instead, you have a completely new life.
The degree of change is that dramatic.
If you're not having the kid at home, be sure to bring something a new baby can wear in whatever car seat you have keeping in mind how the safety belt holding the kid in the seat attaches.
Speaking of that, for older kids the best advice is: wear your seatbelt, don't text and drive, don't drive impaired (although self-driving cars may be the order of the day in 16 years?), and practice safe sex.
Nobody prepares you for the extra worries (you'll see). But you'll soon not be able to imagine life without the kid, either. I have to admit the bond wasn't instantaneous - it took a few days to really hit for me (and then boom!) so don't worry if that's your initial experience, too.
