So what will Fisher's role for the Astros be next year?

Carlos Beltran was the primary DH during the regular season, but won't be back next year. Gattis DH'd a lot during the postseason, but I think they'll mostly have him and McCann share the catching duties next year, both to keep them fresh and to avoid having to carry a third catcher all year. Josh Reddick was historically awful during the postseason, but had a good regular season, is a good defender in RF, and is signed for 3 more years at $13 million/year, so he's going to play. Springer has a few more seasons as a starting CF I think, though he's probably better suited to a corner.

Marwin Gonzalez went from super-utility guy to starting LF, and will essentially play every day somewhere next year. Will it be LF, or will there be playing time for Fisher there? One possibility is to make Gurriel the regular DH, and play Gonzalez at 1b, which would open LF for Fisher. Another would be for Gonzalez to return to playing multiple positions, but I don't think they're going to do that since it would mean sitting Correa, Altuve and Bregman more often than just occasional rest days. Jake Marisnick gives them a versatile guy who can play all three spots and could be a platoon partner for Fisher if needed (Reddick did OK against LHPs last year, but might also need to sit occasionally against the better lefties).

I think they're going to find a way to get Fisher 400+ ABs, with the Gurriel to DH, Gonzalez to 1b seeming like the most likely way to open LF. He'll have to produce, with 20 year old Top 10 overall prospect (and fellow lefty hitting OF) Kyle Tucker looming in AAA this year (though he's only 20).
