Kind of disappointing that our two former NCAA champs

and our #1 from last year, who are three of our best six players since Somdev, were unable to win a first round main draw Challenger match on their former home courts. Inglot, Shabaz, Jenkins and Domijan might have been as just as good as college players, but they did not win the NCAA's. It might be many years before we have a guy capable of winning the NCAA's. IMO Soderlund has a long shot chance to win it, but only if he improves his game a lot from last year. Assuming he plays #1 he will face some very tough competition and it will be interesting to see if he can become a top 10 (maybe 5) college player this year.

Starting in 2019 when the ATP is changing the Futures Tour and making it much harder for college players to play in Futures events, I have feeling a that fewer top juniors, espcially top American juniors will go the college tennis route.
