I believe for stat purposes, it is a win if the FOGO or wing gains possession. Often, the FOGO might lose the ball or the wing throws it away, etc. I saw a kid this summer who would win more often than not at X and then do something really careless after running forward--so, he probably "lost" 65% of the face offs. (He made the top 100 recruits list--ha ha). So, more to it than 51% and your team is in a better position than the other guy's. But, if you have a FOGO in the high 50s, I think you have an edge.

Two stats that I think are not focused on sufficiently are clearing percentage and caused turnovers.
