Re: The Sabre's Kris says Brian Boland may be lead candidate for AD job,

I don't have any inside details, so don't quote me.
Just my two cents.

Boland would like to be an AD at some point. I don't think that time is now.

Any one around the athletic program recently had an understanding that Littlepage was in the late stages of his career, primarily for age, health and family reasons.

I think (guessing) that if Boland thought he had a chance at becoming UVa's next AD he would not have taken the job at the USTA. He had to know the AD job would be available when he accepted the USTA's offer.

Boland also seems like the person who will see through his commitment to the USTA. It's hard to see him pulling a "Lane Kiffin" and leaving this quickly, even if it is an ideal type of position.

If the UVA administration has changed their mind and now considers him a front runner, I think they made an error in not making that clear to Brian from the beginning. Perhaps UVa felt he did not have the administrative background to go right into the job.

Again, just guessing. I think Boland would rather be UVa AD than at the USTA, but he likely didn't think that was possible back in the spring.

I do believe that when Brian's time at the USTA is done he will not go back to college tennis. He will be able to use this administrative experience in a new way. A college AD would be a likely next step.
