Very interesting thread

This has been one of the most interesting and 'well mannered' threads I've read on any of the Sabre boards in a while.
One other 'broad ' factor I think we should consider is what I would call 'exposure' to the sport.
Rome opened a 60-court complex a year ago and the city's connections to USTA have brought enough tournaments to town to operationally break even financially the first year. The tennis has been great. ACC TOURNEY, USTA Girls 14-u natty and the small college vetsion of ITA Oracle Cup right now.
Local paper sports page gives it very little attention. Kids don't read about (even online) and just aren't exposed or go see some of the great play.
Heck, the two girls in the 14-u finals were both 12 and playing up a whole classification. Until local media provides some exposure - or programs such as Teach Me Tennis run by two local Chilean country club pros- get added exposure kids aren't going to start in the sport til high school
Thats way too late by international competive standards.
My two cents
again great thread!
