I don't follow junior tennis very closely. but I know of no

American players who appear to be good enough to become grand slam winners or even GS semi finalists. Tiafoe is a long shot candidate. Obviously it only takes one player with immense talent. The last three (Federer, Nadal and Djokovic) great players come from smaller countries than the USA, It is hard to believe that Switzerland of all countries has 2 top 10/15 PLAYERS so you never know.

Just maybe the next Sampras, Connors, or MacEnroe is 12 to 14 years old and Boland will identify him and make it happen.

I think Boland is great, but he may have bitten off more than he can chew with this USTA job and the incredibly high expectations. If I had to predict whether he will still be doing this job in 5/6 years, I would say there is very little chance that he won't be fired just like all of his predecessors have been, so the UVA AD Job may be looking pretty good.

I would say being a successful AD at UVA is much easier to be successful at than his current job.Other than FB and a few non revenue sports UVA already has one of the best athletic programs in the country. The one thing that many UVA fans want is to have a consistent top 20 FB team, but I just do not see it ever happening at UVA. There would be a remote chance, but only if we change the way we do FB and copy what other elite FB schools do. IMO A lot of this would require major FB related academic changes and I just do not see UVA doing it even if the new AD and President want to change a lot of things. , so even Boland would struggle with FB becoming highly successful.
