Yeah it was a recurring theme how confident we were

Some announcers even used the 'arrogant' word to describe the attitude coming from our players. No fear.

There was definitely not an underdog mentality once we started rolling through the ACC schedule in 2014. The players believed they could beat anyone if they stuck to what we do best.

The fear re-emerged late last season. We had 3 games where we were not competitive at all. The first (@UNC) we were able to get some revenge quickly afterwards at home but before that we had not laid down, even on the road against a national champ quality team, for years. Then came Notre Dame in the tournament where we got chased off the floor and never showed any fight. And Florida, which was somehow even worse than that.

There is definitely some psychological rebuilding to be done. Only Wilkins, Hall and Salt have experienced how Virginia can crush its opponents night in and night out, at home or on the road. The younger players have not yet been given enough reason to believe they can be a juggernaut even on the road against an elite opponent.

Whether the media or opponents think we are the underdog does not matter. What matters is if the players think they are the underdog.
