Better than Jordan Morris only in some respects

Each has his various strengths. Wood is more of a finesse player. He has speed and some soccer smarts and some fashion of finishing instincts.

But in the rough and tumble of CONCACAF? He's a wisp. He's better suited for the more "civilized" game of Europe.

In the rough and tumble of CONCAFAF, I'd take Morris first. He's a brute and he's fearless. And, IMO, more versatile than Wood. Morris can do more creation work than can Wood. He has speed and soccer smarts, but he's not a wisp.

But the problem with both of them? Flip a coin. Wood can come on as a sub an play 30 minutes and be amazing. Or ... invisible. Or he can start and play 90 and be largely ... invisible. Or amazing.

And its the same for Morris.

Our problem is more in the midfield than up top. Our strikers get no stable service or support from anyone. My current measure for whether or not we are still a dismal, sub-par international squad is if Michael Bradley is still captain, starter and talked up by people. He is horrible and ineffective. As long as anyone thinks otherwise we are doomed.

That's just a barometer of sorts - not a laying of the problems at the feet of one player. It takes 11....that add up to something greater than any of the 11 individually
