Errors are the worst metric to measure an outfielders defense


Lots of phantom no-errors on bad play (bad angles/reads, the situation you described, throwing to the wrong bade, missing cutoff, etc.), and lots of errors when they do everything right (infielder doesn't move feet to catch the ball, throw hits a runner because infielder didn't get it, etc)
