My Marques Hagans story and a link

In 2003 before the home game against Virginia Tech the team walked to the stadium (not sure where they started). It was a pep rally of sorts. Fans lined the streets and gave them high fives. The team entered the stadium not far from where we tailgate so we walked a block or so over and gave a bunch of players high fives as they were walking in.

Well, I wanted to do something different, and decided to low five a player. Unfortunately, the next player I saw was Marques. I didn't think on my feet and low fived him. He played along with a great attitude. It occurred to me a minute or so later that he may have been offended on some level, and that was the furthest thing from my mind with the low five (in fact, it would have been more of a feat to get a big lineman to do it).

Anyway, that game in 2003 was the last time we beat tech and Hagans helped set the tone early with some big plays in the first qtr. I love his spirit and determination and he's taller than most of us when it comes to his heart!

This video quality is pretty poor, but the first couple of plays are Hagans highlights. I always thought the catch against MeAngelo was exceptional. The way he created a little space with a quick stiff-arm to the defender's shoulder was perfect.
