You make some very good points, however


I believe that the time frame you cite is far too short to draw so dire a conclusion. It is unquestionable that the Big 10 (Maryland and Ohio State in particular) far outperformed the ACC last year. While MD is well situated for the long haul, OSU's longer term prospects seem far more questionable. Despite early flashes in one season, Rutgers and Penn State quickly faded and have not shown themselves to be more than middle of the pack programs to date. Michigan remains nothing more than potential with a new head coach without head coaching experience. Who knows what is going on with Hopkins?

While it is certainly possible that your diagnosis may prove prescient, I would need to see a few more seasons of Big 10 dominance before declaring them preeminent.
