So if Wyoming has 300 HS players and 24 do D-1, they are 8%. According to UIL data, almost 175,000 kids in Texas are participating in public school football programs, Hence, the 350 going D-1 each year is a small percentage, but still the most in the nation.

I feel certain that California, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, among others have similar numbers.

The sad state of fishwrap "journalism" is ridiculous, and they wonder why no one reads their crap anymore.
