Question about wedding gift "rules"

so 2 years ago, I attended the wedding of an old friend who I rarely see. Flash-forward to now - she's just had a baby. My wife sees pictures of her kid on facebook and asks me "hey did you ever send her a wedding present?" I say of course not, I'm a clueless dude and I thought you did that kind of thing. To be fair, right around that time we had a baby, moved and my oldest started school.
So what are my options here? Continue being a dead beat friend? Get a bigger gift and tie it into new baby? I'm prob going to see these people at another wedding later this summer. I know the general rule is within one year, but we're clearly past that.
