Why take the risk?


Because the players he poached are elite players (at least according to the rankings, for what they're worth) and one reason these players are good is immense self-belief. They'll look at this season and say, "If I were there, it would be a different story." Perfect example would be Kraus--he never had those training wheels on that restricted the upperclassmen and, as a result, was probably offensive MVP. Now imagine an entire line made up of people with his mindset.

Lars may turn out to be a colossal bust, but he at least deserves to get one class of his recruits before any judgment is made.
