by an odd quirk of fate, my family was in the Sheraton Hotel in Stamford CT last year during the tournament and we got to meet the MSU team.
They were unfailingly polite. The band was really nice. The boosters were great. I felt really, really bad when I checked up on them on the big screen and saw they were being destroyed. Lost by 60 ... it wasn't that close.
The next day at the hotel we saw the team and fans again. And you know what? They were unfailingly polite and just great in general.
Nice kids, I know that wanted to be champions, but I bet that erasing the stink of the UConn loss in 2016 meant more to them than making the Final 4.
