I've been there twice. The countryside is really neat.

One side of a hill looks like a moonscape (the astronauts practiced geology there AMOF) and the other is a lush, green meadow. A LOT of people speak English, even outside of Rejkyavik. Thingvellir is where the Vikings' Parliament met. Gejser is a place loaded with (wait for it) geysers. They have at least two extra characters in the alphabet, the Danish slashed O (which they picked up when they were a Danish colony) and what looks like a capital P at half mast which is the "Th" in Thingvellir. The Arctic Circle touches the northern coast of the island. At the height of the Midnight Sun, the sun will only go down in the sky to be level with the tops of the light poles.
