Ranieri? I can and can't.


Pretty much all pro sports seems to be "what have you done for me lately?". So I'm not shocked at it.

That being said, they were shock/lucky winners last year. They kept Vardy and Mahrez, but lost Kante. That's a huge blow. Even with him they probably wouldn't have even sniffed a top four finish this season (they wouldn't have caught anyone by surprise), but they probably could have been a top half team. Not only did they not strengthen in the offseason, they got weaker with the loss of Kante.

I haven't followed them but I'm assuming the lack of shelling out for players is on the owner and not Ranieri. What manager would say "Thanks, but I'm good" if an owner is giving them lots of money to spend?

So I think, unfortunately, Ranieri is a scapegoat for the ownership. He'll get another job if he wants one.
