I have never felt icky rooting for KU. Self is a straightshooter

I am biased as a lifelong fan but I am somewhat removed from it as I did not go to school there (although my dad is an alum; my uncle played there with Dean Smith; and I have a cousin who played there and went to the final four). The program is not perfect but Self is a good guy who runs a clean program. kchoo is right - he recruits some players who have an edge but they generally stay out of trouble. Some of his players are definitely not choir boys but make no mistake, he is in charge and has standards that you need to follow or you will not last. Are they as strict as Tony's? Probably not. But he respects the game and the history of KU basketball and will not let the program be embarrassed. No player is bigger than the program.
